CLASS DESCRIPTION: An advanced course in image-making for functional contexts. Students develop projects which isolate issues of approach, production, distribution, and market in the landscape of illustration and cartooning today. Targeted research questions are posed in response to individual student work. Successful completion of the course requires the development of and commitment to an aesthetic and creative position within the fields of illustration and cartooning. Readings address the history and culture of illustration, comics, and animation. ​​​​​​​
